Dr. Brosnan is a Board Certified comprehensive ophthalmologist who provides routine eye care and specializes in medical diseases of the eye including cataracts, glaucoma and diabetes.  He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.  His graduate training includes a rotating internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas – Southwestern in Dallas. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Brosnan is a native of Asheville and returned to Durham after residency.  He served as assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at Duke University and chief of ophthalmology at the Durham Veterans Affairs Center from 2001 – 2005. He was in a family owned private practice for 18 years before joining Asheville Eye Associates.

Dr. Brosnan and his wife have two children.  His interests include spending time with his family, gardening and enjoying the outdoors.
