We’re hosting the 3rd Annual Run the Forest 5K and 1 Mile Walk to raise money and awareness for LifeShare. LifeShare provides organs and tissues for transplantation and helps communities and hospitals through educational and support services. Thanks to our Platinum Sponsor, Carolina Day School, 1345 Hendersonville Road in Asheville, the location for the start and finish for the 5K which routes through scenic Biltmore Forest.The 3rd Annual Run the Forest 5K is a certified 5K which is chip-timed. Prizes include $100.00 Cash prize to overall top female and overall top male. $50.00 cash prize to overall top Female master runner and top male Master runner. Cash prizes to top 3 male and top 3 female runners in the following age categories: 1-6, 7-10, 11-13, 14-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, and 60 and over. This is a family friendly event and includes kids of all ages. Post-event water and snacks are provided for all runners. Event t-shirts are guaranteed to the first 300 runners. A one mile community walk will follow the 5K to honor donor families and transplant recipients. Pre-registered runners and walkers can pick up their packets on Friday, Sept.25 at Asheville Eye Associates’ 8 Medical Park Drive office between 12:00 noon and 5:00pm, or at the event site at 1345 Hendersonville Rd. on Saturday morning, Sept.26 starting at 7:15am before the 5K.
